OUR PROGRAMS

Beauty For Ashes is a faith based training model created to provide faith communities with tools to address HIV stigma while providing basic HIV information particularly to women in ministry and to other faith leaders. This is a 3 hour training that is peer focused and employs interactive stigma reduction exercises as well as opportunities for self-reflection. Churches will be equipped with a guided workbook and literature to review and disseminate to their parishioners. Upon completion of training, churches are provided with a stipend to assist in promoting activities and events that increase HIV awareness.

Art Meditation sessions are provided to show how art has the power to positively impact lives while creating a safe space that is conducive for sharing and healing. Attendees of art meditation sessions discover aspects of mindfulness that can be used as an alternative to formal therapy. The goal is centered on providing individuals with tools to achieve optimal health through guided meditation. We identify and address stigmas that contribute to the reluctance to seek care and utilize available resources that improve overall health and well-being. The sessions are facilitated by “Mindful Meta Art”.

She Looks Like Me’s Resource Locker is our ongoing project designed to support the students of Alabama State University. Combining objectives to expand the reach of the church beyond its walls with our goal to incorporate the art community into the fight to the End HIV epidemic, a mural was created. The mural is permanently affixed to the lockers used by students that will be continuously replenished with personal care items and HIV health related literature.

The Throne and Therapy will be an introductory approach to therapeutic counseling, incorporating trauma-informed care. Through this program, individuals will be able to receive free therapy sessions with a licensed therapist. In addition to individual and family therapy, peer supported group sessions will be available.

Invisible Voices will be an ongoing campaign that will allow for storytelling, providing a voice for those affected by HIV. This program will focus on the healing aspects of sharing stories about the impact of living with HIV. It is our hope that sharing lived experiences through the means of storytelling will increase community HIV awareness and education in an impactful way, evoking change to improve societal perspectives. Persons that participate in this program can remain anonymous but their stories and lived experiences will be shared abroad. Our vision is to reflect their stories in a documentary to highlight the journey of invisible voices. Participants will also be offered the opportunity to engage in peer supported group therapy led by a licensed therapist.
